Activities
    Troop 243 is active in numerous activities throughout the year. These include three main areas:
 1) Camping, 2) Trips / High Adventure, and 3) Service Projects. 
 
      Camping  
  Troop 243 attends local campouts, as well as, Council camps such as Winterfest, Spring and Fall Camporees and Summer Camp at Camp Mack Morris.  Summer Camp is a week long camp that benefits scouts by providing opportunities to earn Merit Badges, enhance camping skills, and encourage comraderie.  Camperships are available to scouts that meet certain conditions.  
Trips and High Adventure
Recent trips for Troop 243 have included Skiing at Paoli Peaks and Hidden Valley, canoeing the Buffalo River, spelunking in Cumberland Caverns, and backpacking at Mousetail Landing and Montgomery Bell State Parks.  The Troop has had three groups to attend Seabase High Adventure Camp in the Florida Keys over the last 7 years.
 
Service Projects
Service projects are an important part of the Troop activities.  Past projects include placing flags at veteran's gravesites on Memorial Day, flag raising ceremonies, flag retirement ceremonies, providing a water station during the Dyer Station Celebration, helping with the Dyer Christmas decorations and assembling boxes for the annual food distribution for the needy during Christmas.
